When that wing distracts him he knows Lan Wangji has opted to go even lower and he just about gets tripped up. He manages to avoid being completely knocked off balance since lucky for him he is fairly quick on his feet. Those wings burst out of his back as he moves letting them flap with a great force that will get him out of harms way. At least his wings aren't just for show.
