Night hunts are practically routine where Lan Xichen's from, at least for cultivators, and exploring an unfamiliar forest with relatively unknown dangers doesn't seem any different just because it's in another world. There certainly seems to be something of a sense of ease as they travel, and then as they set up camp.
During the day, there's a flurry of activity as the camp's occupants drift in and out, setting up or taking down tents, making weapons or food, going off to collect firewood or go hunting or fishing, patrol the area or anything else that needs doing.
In the evening there's a roaring fire to ward off the chill, the scent of cooking food and the sound of conversation.
Someone - quite likely Lan Xichen himself - will invite anyone who happens nearby to come sit down, warm themselves by the fire and have something to eat.
At night, there's likely always someone up on watch who might need company, or who might come to investigate someone nearby.

[ In which case, they've got another think coming because Lan Wangji is thriving like this more than he had been at the hotel. ]

[He doesn't even want to try and explain how he survived three months in the burial mounds. If he could handle that..he could handle a winter in wonderland.]
no subject
He's survived so much. Lan Wangji only wishes for him to have a good life going forward. ]
They had never met us before.

[There is plenty to entertain himself with outside. But only so much to do in the hotel. He doesn't like being caged up.]

[ And figure out a way home out there. ]
no subject
[He would never get to return most likely so it would be his one chance to see what else is out there before going home. He can't do that now..not with the bond and the guards and everything. But if all alone to do what he wanted, it would be great adventure.]
no subject
[ They won't get far, but it's worth trying. ]
no subject
You'll really keep exploring with me? Every day?
no subject
[ He said he would, back at the hotel, but perhaps Wei Ying has forgotten. ]
Every day we travel, and come home.
[ Does he remember? ]
no subject
Then I will change into something big enough to carry you and we can fly all over the place and see everything!
no subject
[ He barely knows how to fly as-is... ]
no subject
[He seems perfectly confident that he will be able to do so with enough time.]
no subject
[ He's also not trying to get dropped onto the ground. ]
no subject
[Even if they have to walk he is just excited to get the chance to see more of the world.]
no subject
[ He reaches out, and instead of taking Wei Ying's hand, takes a bit of the end of his sleeve between two fingers, the way Wei Ying had done once.
And then checks the batch. ]
its ok, I keep forgetting what is going on in each thread XD
I still want us to be able to do all kinds of things. That won't ever change..right?
no subject
That will depend on what your husband and my husband want.
[ That is for later, anyway. ]
no subject
Ah..I hope they understand..
[He resumes grinding, a little more forceful then before as he tries to work away the embarrasment.]
no subject
[ But he will also understand if they do not, as perhaps they might think of this as an extramarital affair. ]
Have you asked your Lan Wangji... how he feels... about your soul twin?
no subject
[Of course they prefer each other. Same memories, same world..It's a little bit of a relief that he didn't just find solace in the arms of the other when he was missing. That might have not been the best time to discuss such things..Lan Wangji was happy he had returned and Wei Wuxian's memories had been fragmented and missing huge chunks. A new conversation will probably have to be had.]
I think he still enjoys the memories they make together but he doesn't really tell me how he feels about him.
no subject
How could the worlds design them in such a way?
Lan Wangji doesn't know how to feel. ]
No matter what happens, Wei Ying, my feelings do not change.
no subject
He stops crushing the herbs and leans over so he can place his head lightly against Lan Wangji's shoulder.]
Mine won't ever change either, Lan Zhan.
[One can't just turn off how they feel. It might be complicated but when has his life ever been easy?]
no subject
But he takes Wei Ying's hand, gently, and runs his thumb on the underside of his palm, giving it a gentle squeeze.
He does not want to ever let go. ]
no subject
He can definitely grind herbs with one hand...
He lifts his head up and leans just a little more so he can place a ghost of a kiss on Lan Wangji's cheek. Barely contacting, like a soft brush of lips before sitting up straight again.]
no subject
His eyes open just the slightest bit wide, but then he resumes normal, as Wei Ying continues to grind spices. ]
I should prepare the cuts.
