The hug surprises him just as much as the gift has. He has always been impressed by how composed and strong that Lan Xichen is. Taking on the heavy burden of being a sect leader while still going through all the hard times that their world has tried to throw at him. And this Xichen has no reason to even cast him a second glance. He's not from his world, he doesn't really need to even acknowledge his existence. But to give him this kind of gift means that despite that fact, he does still support a union he could easily just brush off.

And so the hug breaks all the restraint that Wei Wuxian has tried so hard to have in that moment. He wraps his arms around this man that would be his brother-in-law now and his face buries into the robes to hide the tears that are now flowing freely from his eyes. His hand keeps that tight grip on the token as he lays it against the other man's back.

"Thank you so much..for accepting us into your family even though you didn't have to."

He hasn't ever shared his desires to see their world with anyone but their Lan Wangji, but he feels the need to do so now with Xichen.

"And I'm going to hold onto this always, so that when I get to visit your world I can come and visit you as well."
