to lose all my senses —
THAT IS JUST SO TYPICALLY ME
It's not clear how many days it's been since you arrived in Wonderland. With it stuck in perpetual twilight, it could have been days, perhaps longer — everything starts to blur together, in this artificially joyful place. Maybe you've started to feel like you you're getting used to it, maybe not...But eventually, something happens to break the monotony. Your ears begin to ring, and ring, and ring and then — stop. The lights become blinding, forcing you to squeeze your eyes shut and try to rub the afterimage of all that light from them — but when you open your eyes, you still can't see.
The staff don't understand when you ask them what's happened to you. "You've always been like this", they insist. They sign at you, or try to hand you papers written in braille — if you insist you've never signed in your life, or that you can't read braille, they laugh at your funny joke. You begin to wonder — have you always been this way? You were so sure... But everyone around you is equally sure of their truth, and their voices are so much louder.
As if that weren't enough, nothing in the hotel can be found in the same place twice. All the shops keep switching places, once you enter one area it's as though everything shifts in the minutes before you leave again. Getting back to your room is a struggle — where are the elevators? Finding food is nearly impossible — the Pig & Pepper was there, but now it's not. The staff are equally useless here — they have no idea what you mean about moving shops. Where would you want to move to when all your needs are accounted for right here?
What is going on?
SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL — 5/11
The day starts like any other has in the Hotel — unsure if a new day has started at all. Perpetual twilight and lack of clocks makes it difficult to tell time here in the Hotel, but on this particular day, something breaks up the monotony. It begins slowly — or else it happens all at once. Over the course of the day, all Oysters find themselves losing a sense. Staff don't understand their complaints — you've always been like this, they say, gentle, as though to a person in the middle of a break with reality.
Losing your temper won't help, either. Oysters who shout and yell will find staff remaining frustrating calm and compassionate, insisting that they cannot fix what has always been and murmuring about Mad March before taking their leave. Physical aggression may result in a spike of fear, but staff will quickly make their exit and may avoid that Oyster for a while.
If that wasn't enough, nothing in the Hotel is staying put.

IT'S LIKE A MAZE IN HERE — 5/11
The interior of the Hotel has ceased to remain stationary. Beginning at the same time as the loss of senses, the establishments of the Hotel begin to jump around, never staying in the same place twice. An Oyster may have entered the Pool of Tears from the lobby, but exit it into the middle of the casino. The Pig & Pepper Buffet is never in the same place twice, and always seems to move right when Oysters desperately need a meal.
Even as the old shops move, new establishments seem to be being added, but they aren't easy to find — Oysters will see a new sign across the building from where they are, only to see it's moved again by the time they get there. If you take your eyes off an establishment as you head toward it, it disappears and reappears elsewhere. Making it to the new establishments will take some time and dedication (or perhaps plain stubbornness), but there are rewards in it for any Oyster that can manage the feat!

Back To Rights — 5/15
A few days after the effects of the event begin, they just as suddenly end. Sight, hearing, speech — they all return in a rush, possibly overwhelmingly so, and when one tries to make their way to a shop, it stays exactly where it was when they first saw it, and they exit the exact same place they entered. Staff will react much the same way as they did when they were questioned after the loss of senses — you've always been like this.
You made it through, Oysters. You've completed your first event in the Hotel.

We hope you enjoy this first event, Oysters! If you have any questions, please leave them on the first comment to this page. Happy playing!

I.
He has seen the other residents are struggling with the same issue, of their senses being blocked, but he found they're either blind, deaf, or mute and without his voice, communication is an obstacle.
After he discovered one of the room, a bar of all places, and he isn't there, he continues his search of him. He sees Wei Ying walking through the hall, touching the walls to figure out his way. But he walks by passing him. That's when he figured he can't see him. "..." Wei Ying can't see me. He thought. Wangji can't raise his voice because it's temporarily gone for the time being.
He can't figure out a way to get his attention, so he goes for the direct approach and he reached out to tap on his shoulder and grabs one of his wrists, knowing a sudden grab will raise alarm.
no subject
He obviously can't be certain with his eyes the way they are but there really isn't any reason to strike out even if it isn't the other man. As far as he knows no one in this hotel really wants to cause them harm. So he relaxes and turns a little, reaching out to see if he can feel the familiar robes of the other man.
no subject
He opens his mouth, but his blocked vocal cords can't form any words at all. "..." So when Wei Wuxian reaches out for him, he guides both of his wrists to feel the lapels on his robes. The jade amulet and it's silk tassels that hangs from his waist.
Slowly going up, he guides his wrist to place his hands on his face where the bangs of his black hair brushed against his skin.
no subject
"Why didn't you say anything?" It isn't really strange for the man to be quiet but he would have at least let him know he was there with some sort of speech. Suddenly a frightening thought strikes him and his fingers move to Lan Wangji's mouth, silently concerned that someone might have cut out his tongue. He has seen enough of that recently. Certainly Xue Yang hasn't also been brought to this place.
no subject
Other than feeling frustrated and distressed, he's only relieved to find his partner again. His cheeks darken when he feels for his lips, standing still, remaining silent. Part of him burns with eagerness from his touch, but he suppressed it, keeping his expression impassive.
Eventually, he holds one of his hands, finger interlocking. If Wei Wuxian holds his hands before, he can feel how calloused they are, his fingers long, there's a strength in his hands from exercising handstands, and from the years of handling the strings and the sword.
no subject
If that is the case hopefully the other man still has his sight. At least then Wei Wuxian will have a set of eyes that can guide him until this all wears out.
no subject
He could definitely see and lend him his sight to guide the way to where Wei Wuxian wished to go and let Wei Wuxian figure out a way to communicate with him.
no subject
He will just have to make sure he can ask yes or no questions as best he can to keep communication simple.
"Let's find somewhere to sit. The hotel keeps changing so it will be hard to get back if we travel too much."
no subject
He swings his hand lazily, indicating wherever Wei Wuxian wishes to go, he'll be his eyes to guide him. He wants to find a place to sit and relax? He knows where the bar is.
So Lan Wangji slowly begins to guide him and tug him along through the hall, in the direction guiding him to where the bar is at.
no subject
He is definitely glad Lan wangji has his sight. That will make life a lot easier. He can handle the other not talking to him. He spent the first life he had with the other man barely saying more then a few words at a time.
no subject
If Wei Wuxian is craving for a drink, he'll get one soon. There's the scent of the aromatic spirits in the air and food being served, the sounds of glasses colliding, and people and staff talking and laughing. Lan Wangji would have admonish him for drinking, but being voiceless, no scolding came.
He guides him to one of the seats and indicate this is where they're going to sit.
no subject
"I can't see any sort of menu, Lan Zhan. Somehow we are going to have to order. Can you just pick something and point it out to someone?"
He doesn't know if there are any workers but he can hear various voices.
no subject
Lan Zhan got himself a glass of iced tea while he got Wei Wuxian a glass of chilled liquor. "..." He simply guides the cold glass and wraps Wei Wuxian's hands around it, and there will be a shape of cold glass filled with the chilled drink.
no subject
"If we get separated when the hotel shifts again, we should come up with a place to meet. There must be somewhere that doesn't change.."
no subject
"..." He tugs at his sleeves to indicate he is close and he is listening. He couldn't add any word of his input to the conversation, but he definitely agrees with him.
no subject
They both know that location and most places seem to empty out into it so at least it seems like a good central location.
no subject
"..." Still, he tugs at his sleeve a few times to indicate yes, he agrees.
no subject
"I wonder how long this will last. It can't possibly leave us like this for more then a couple..Maybe there is a cure somewhere just like with the cookies and the hotel keeps changing because it wants people to work hard to find it."
no subject
Lan Wangji doesn't want to risk eating any of the known foods he has written on his list that change their size or enchant the emotions.
Giving his friend's sleeve another light tug, but only because he wanted to. "..." His response would have been the typically Mn anyway.
no subject
"You know what I would like to find..that place with the indoor pond. I heard about it but never got to see it." Not that swimming in the pool is probably the best of options when blind but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be fun to take a dip.
Perhaps he's just coming up with random topics since his associate can't actually engage in anything. It's up to him to keep the conversation flowing.
no subject
So far, it seems to be a regular liquor so no weird side-effects. Not that Lan Wangji has noticed and observed.
"..." Well, technically even if Lan Wangji takes him there, he still won't be able to see.
Still, he obliged. As his answer, he searched for his hands, fingers sliding and interlocking. He tugs him along, showing him the way out of the bar, being his guide and his eyes.
no subject
"If you see anything interesting, Lan Zhan, let me know! I may not be able to see it but maybe i can use my other senses to kind of understand it."
no subject
It will take a lot of effort to find the pool, by reading the signs, and using light touch and tugging, he guides Wei Wuxian through the halls, taking the lead in the right direction.
Eventually, there will be a sound of ripples of water. It's faint and all is quiet in the pool. It's warm also, walking on barefoot, so the floor is warmer than usual as it's designed to be a beach.
no subject
"Let me know if I get too close." He wants to put his bare feet in the water and just relax there for awhile.
no subject
He picks the side and edge of the pool where it's not particularly deep, only shallow by three feet, so it's low enough to dip his bare feet into the pool while sitting by the edge.
Lan Wangji will help him with that, slowly and carefully, so Wei Wuxian wouldn't slip or fall.
