A Happy MidAutumn Wedding Mingle Log

Pre-Wedding

Invitations have gone out to all the rooms and all the Oysters within the hotel. Whether you have met all four of the people involved in the wedding or not, it makes no difference. They all want you to join them in the celebration of their union! It's a wedding of two couples but also a celebration of the Mid-Autumn festival since it all will be happening on October 1.

For days leading up to October 1st, the kitchens have been busy with preparing a feast for the wedding. The staff is all aware of the upcoming event and the kitchen was opened up so the parties involved could help prepare a wide variety of foods for the guests. Included in that is the making of many mooncakes. A tasty treat that is customary for the Mid-Autumn Festival that also occurs on that date. Enough had to be made since each of the guests will be give a lovely wedding favor of a pair of mooncakes wrapped in paper bags painted with pretty lotus flowers or perhaps you will be given one with rabbits on the moon instead painted on them. If anyone happens upon the kitchen they might encounter one or both of the Lan Wangji's as they make sure all the food is correct and preparations for carting it all outside is made. Everything must be perfect for the evening.

As the sun rises in the sky, the friends and families of the wedding parties are welcome to gather outside the rooms of the two Wei Wuxian's. Inside their respective spaces they are taking great care in preparing for the evening, getting dressed in the wedding robes and placing their veils over their heads. They are sitting and waiting for their soulmates to arrive so they can be escorted to the ceremony. But outside the room, there are those that wish to challenge each of the Lan Wangji's before they can collect their soon to be husbands. Feel free to force Lan Wangji to prove his love for the one inside the room before he will be allowed to collect his beloved. Force him to eat a spicy pepper, or ask him questions to prove his love for the one inside the room. It's a game that Lan Wangji must pass in order to be ready to finally be with the one he loves. Once he has been allowed to enter the room, the guests will proceed downstairs to prepare for the ceremony.

Wedding

As guests enter the gardens they notice the red lanterns and decorations everywhere. The hedge maze surrounds them and acts as a lovely backdrop that beautiful silk streamers and paper lotus flower decorations are hung on to give a warm feeling to the area. Longer streamers cross above their heads strung from trees to create a lovely red canopy for a little protection from the autumn sun in the sky. Soft music plays around them to welcome them to their seats. In the front of the room is a lovely alter of gold and a place where the official will be standing. There is space big enough for the two sets of grooms to be able to perform their bows simultaneously.

A donkey wearing a red halter with golden tassels and a matching blanket is wandering around the gardens. Munching on apples off the trees, he can easily be distracted by anyone that might offer him another as a snack. He'll eventually be lead closer to the ceremony to stand watch, clearly also a member of the family and as he gets led down the aisle to stand near the alter. Hopefully he will be well behaved during the process. Someone close to him might be sneaking him apples during it to keep him quiet.

When the time arrives, the two couples appear. The Wei Wuxians with red veils covering their faces, equally as bright and elegant robes upon their bodies. Golden embroidery and accents across many layers of long and flowing silks and sheers. Golden head pieces are currently obscured by the veils. They are being lead by the two Lan Wangjis, dressed in equally as striking men's robes with matching golden accents. Each of the four outfits is unique to the person who wears them but they are all equally as extravagant and lovely.

They walk down the aisle as one and stand before Lan Xichen who begins the ceremony. Three sets of bows take place as the two couples kneel before him. The first kowtow to Heaven and Earth. The second to show respect to their family. The third kowtow to each other. Vows will be done in private later but for now the couples stand. Veils are lifted so that the pairs can finally look into the eyes of their soulmates and can finish their ceremony with a kiss.

As the ceremony ends, the couples are now free to acknowledge their guests and begin the festivities.

Banquet

All the food that had been prepared for days leading up to this moment was now placed on long tables with red tablecloths. There are smaller tables for the guests to sit at while they enjoy their meal. The spread is buffet style so that everyone can help themselves and included are more of the mooncakes like the ones within the gifts for the guests. There is also chicken cooked in various ways so that people have their choice of how they like it prepared. Also fruit and garden salads for those that don't eat meat. Including very festive looking watermelons that have been cut to resemble lotus flowers. Basically if the hotel is able to serve it, it has been represented in some way. The grooms didn't want any of the guests to feel left out and wanted to make sure that everyone left the party full and happy.

Don't forget the drinks! Since Wei Wuxian loves his alcohol, there is also plenty of that to go around. It will be flowing all night and you may even spot a couple jars of his favorite drink, Emperor's Smile, hanging out on the table as well. Better get those before they disappear! And for those that don't drink, don't worry. The tea provided is safe of all the hotels tricks. And water or other nonalcoholic beverages are available.

But most important is perhaps the table of desserts that has been laid out for everyone. Ice cream that is somehow being kept cold while outside is available to be placed on top of cakes and pies of every type that anyone can imagine. But standing above it all is a large several tiered wedding cake that will eventually be cut by the four grooms for you all to enjoy. But please don't touch until it has been divided! Cute little rabbits of white and grey decorate each layer of the cake and at the very top a decorative moon topper with a two sets of rabbits within it and lotus flowers along the edge of the moon. Each tier of the cake is a different flavor so make sure you try each one.

The grooms and their family will be seated in a long table by the hedge maze so feel free to come up and congratulate them or offer a toast. When the cake is cut they will be mingling along with everyone.

Dancing

It wouldn't be a wedding without dancing. And as night falls and the food tables are cleared away, a wide open area is set aside for those that want to enjoy customary wedding activities. The hotel was kind enough to offer those dancing lessons a few months before so everyone should be well practiced on the moves. Various styles of music from all over the various worlds plays continuously through the evening. Where the DJ is..no one really knows but the music is coming from somewhere. Shout out a request and maybe it will be able to be played as well.

Lantern Ceremony

As the evening wears on, the Wei Wuxians start to pass out lanterns to each of the guests. They have spent weeks preparing them, painting them with various designs so that each one would be unique. Not only is the lantern ceremony an important part of the Mid-Autumn festival, but it holds a very special meaning for the WangXian pairs. One of their first memories together involved promises while sending off a lantern. On this night that is supposed to be the brightest moon of the year, they want to light up the sky with even more things in celebration.

A quick explanation of how to light it is given and when everyone is ready, their wishes are made and the lanterns are released up into the air. The pretty glow of each one fills the night sky as they rise up towards the stars, carrying the hopes and wishes of everyone with them.

That is how the evening will close and everyone is welcome to mingle around and enjoy the rest of the evening. The grooms will likely be heading off soon so say your goodnights and well wishes. They hope that everyone enjoyed the evening and makes sure that each guest leaves with their little lotus bag as a thank you for sharing the special day with them.

[Wei Wuxian couldn't just give a gift to one Lan Wangji and not the other. Even if they weren't married it was still his wedding day and so he had spent any spare moment he had to make sure both gifts would be ready.

When Lan Wangji bows, he stumbles a bit, unable to really do so properly with the decent sized present in his arms but does what he can.]

Congratulations to you too, Lan Zhan.

[The other books had been a gift just to give a gift. He could have saved them for this day as well but they didn't seem special enough. He holds this package out to him, wrapped in red paper with a gold bow.]

I have something for you.

You really didn't have to.

[ After all, he didn't have anything for Wei Ying, because he'd been too busy setting up the wedding. The last gift he'd given Wei Ying was a bit of Emperor's Smile, and that had been from the hotel.

He takes the gift and takes a look, wondering if he should open it or keep it until they could have an exchange. ]

What did I tell you about gifts? They are better when they aren't expected!

[He clearly didn't expect a gift nor does he feel like he needs anything. But the one he hands over has some weight and is much heavier then the books he gave previously although still similar in that respect.

He shifts a little nervously for a moment and then his expression softens.]

I know you don't really need another book but..since we don't have the same kind of memories as your Wei Wuxian, I thought it might be nice to keep track of the ones we do have.

[If Lan Wangji opens it he will find a book that is nicely and carefully bound with a handmade cover decorated with an image of the hotel. Inside is a story outlining everything the two of them have ever done together, illustrated as well when the story comes to more significant parts of their journey together. An image of them releasing a lantern in the pool, meeting the white King, cooking together at the campsight and more.]

We've had a lot of fun together and so this is our story. I even learned how to bind books for it. But this way if either of us ever forget again..we have this to make remembering everything a little easier.

[If he flips towards the end it even includes the time when they were kids, showing that he has been working on this almost all the way up to this day. And the very last page is the self portrait he had promised a long time ago. Only it is a bit different because not only is it a photo of him, but also of his soul twin. The two of them back to back, both dressed in the wedding clothes because that is where their story has gotten to.

Wei Wuxian plays with the hem of his long sleeves as he stands there.]

I know I don't have the best handwriting but I tried really hard to make sure it was legible.

[ Perhaps he shouldn't be surprised, because Wei Ying - the other Wei Ying, had given him something very similar. And flipping through, very carefully considering each page, it seems that they even drew some of the same scenes. It just makes him love both all the more, because they are truly the same soul through and through.

A warm smile graces his face and he is surprised by the very last picture, where he sees the two of them in harmony, standing together, both ready to get married. They seem to leap off the page, since they are really here in the flesh.

His eyes mist.

He knows that Wei Ying expects nothing back, but how can he ever repay him for this?

He closes his eyes to keep his eyes from watering, but a tear manages to fall.

He will never forget this. ]

Wei Ying...

Thank you.

[Wei Wuxian watches his expression very carefully and when he sees the smile he feels his own smile rise back up onto his lips. He thought perhaps the man wouldn't want it or it wouldn't matter since their story was just one for the hotel and wouldn't matter if they ever were sent home. Wei Wuxian's memory isn't good but he made sure to document everything he could remember in as detailed a way as possible, from the first moment they met in the hotel to their current moment in time. Good or bad, it was all important to him. But when he sees that tear fail, it causes him to flails a little. Sleeves flapping as he tries to figure out what to do. He has had a far amount of his own tears throughout the day but he never expected to cause Lan Wangji to shed some as well.]

A-ah..Lan Zhan! You're welcome. And you know...the story isn't done or anything even though it has a last page!

[He reaches up to try and wipe away that tear with one of those long red sleeves.]

We will have a lot more adventure to have together and we'll make sure to have enough to fill a whole second book!

[Because no matter what he doesn't want this wedding to mean that they never get to be together again. Even though they each have their own husband, Wei Wuxian still loves this Lan Zhan too and that doesn't change. He felt even happier knowing that they were all sharing this day together and filling their story with a day of so much love.]

[ A second book? He likes the sound of that. He'd like all the adventures with his Wei Yings, plural. He wants to go everywhere with them, show this one his world, be shown his world, explore this one.

There's so much left for them to do together; this is just the beginning of their adventure. ]

We will have plenty to take home.

[ And show everyone else, because Lan Wangji wasn't about to regale everyone with tales. Wei Wuxian, maybe.

He pulls Wei Ying into an embrace then, because he feels soft and happy. ]

Thank you.

[Wei Wuxian gets pulled into that embrace and he relaxes into it. Knowing that Lan Wangji is ready to go on many more adventures with him fills him with an excitement and a happiness that is hard to contain. Wrapping his arms around him as well, he holds onto him tightly.]

You're welcome, Lan Zhan. The promise that we still get to enjoy so much more is the best gift I could ever hope for.

[Their promises to find a way to visit each other still looms in the back of his mind, wanting nothing more then to be able to do that. He wonders if they ever actually get to meet the Queen if they might not be able to make her allow that or find a way to convince her to let them travel between them all. He still holds onto that hope.]

Someday this book and all the rest will be able to live in the real Cloud Recesses.

[Even if he never gets to visit that place, if the book goes then a piece of him will be there. And if nothing else he will know that he was able to keep his promise in that way.]

[ He has resolved to find a way to visit, and therefore, to find a way for Wei Ying to visit as well. With all four of them, they should be able to figure something out. Now that they know those two are out there, can they rest going home and never seeing them again? Even death hadn't stopped either of them.

And they do live a long time; he is certain they will find out a way.

In the meantime, he is grateful for this. He will always have something to remember Wei Ying by, not that he needed anything as everything about him is carved deep into Lan Wangji's heart. ]

I will make a place for it in the library with the history books.

[He laughs softly and buries his face into Lan Wangji's robes in order to hide his own tears of happiness that threaten to fall again. He refuses to cry for the hundredth time today.]

It will add some excitement to some of those boring old books.

[He had never found the history books to be particularly interesting and most of his time in the library had been spent copying rules. But he knows how important those books are as they trace the history of the Lan sect and the world. So it feels like an honor to have his own placed among them.]

Sorry it took so long to get you that portrait but I wanted to make sure it was just right.

[ He does object to those books being boring, because those books are very important and many of them had been destroyed during the Sunshot campaign. They'd not only killed the existing Lans, but tried to erase their history as well.

They spent much time trying to recover, rewrite what was lost. And now they can start to create new texts.

He touches Wei Ying's cheek and places a kiss to the crown of his head. ]

It is perfect.

[ If he should cry, Lan Wangji will be here to wipe the tears away. ]

[He tilts his head back so he can rest his chin against Lan Wangji's chest, not wanting to get his robes wet from tears. His eyes clearly watery but doing his best to not be an emotional mess. This day has made him feel like his eyes were never going to stop leaking.]

I knew Lan Zhan would look good in red. Your wedding robes are very nice.

[And very soft against his face since he was just pressed against them. He hadn't gotten to really see him until now since he has been hidden beneath the veil during the ceremony and couldn't see much through it. He's glad he gets to admire it now. His veil still cling to the top of his head, held on mostly by the golden hair piece that a little of his hair is through, not his normal high ponytail. He doesn't want to put the veil down and lose it so he just lets it drape off the top of his head.

He feels a little bad about clinging to him and risking wrinkling up both their robes but the ceremony is done so its okay if things get a little unkempt now.]

[ It's alright if he does; there's no use for these robes after today, as nice as they are, as shame as it is to never wear them again. But they've served their purpose. ]

I have always known Wei Ying looks good in red.

[ He might have remembered those days he'd have just the inner robe on, and he could think back and imagine from there, what he might look like getting married. ]

Mm. Did Wei Ying eat?

[ He is concerned that both his Wei Yings get some nourishment because if he is anything like the other Lan Wangji, he won't be letting Wei Ying out of their rooms for a good forty eight hours. ]

[Wei Wuxian wants to treasure and take good care of these robes even if they won't have any use other then to hang in the closet. Because every time he opens that door he wants that flash of red to remind him of this day, and this happiness, and that no matter what Lan Wangji will always be by his side and his life will be filled with nothing but love.]

Ahh..I haven't made it there yet.

[He wanted to make sure he delivered the gift before he worried about anything else. He had worried he would get distracted and then forget to hand it to him.]

I didn't eat today yet because I wanted to make sure i had a big appetite for all the food that Lan Zhan worked so hard on.

[Some of this food better be going back to the rooms with them if they expect him to have enough energy to endure 48 hours of anything Lan Wangji has planned for them.]

[ He knew that Wei Ying would have done this and not eat all day. He is only slightly concerned, because he must be hungry and he will have to force him to eat something so that he can spend the rest of his night with his husband. ]

Come, we did not cook all this for you not to eat any.

[ He will bring the book with him, because he wants to have it near his person and because he wants to prove that it's precious to him, and he won't see any harm come to it. He will want this adorning his shelves for all his life. Wei Ying - at least, the other one, has proven to him lately that despite his facade, he has his own insecurities. So let this just not be one. ]

Okay Okay, I'll eat!

[He releases the other man from his hold and starts to get ushered towards the food tables. It had been the place where he had hidden the wedding gifts, knowing that few people would be paying attention to what was under the table when what was on top of it looked so good. He probably should have grabbed a snack before starting his gift giving. But it doesn't matter since he is now being pushed towards it anyway.]

I want to try everything because I know all of it will be really good.

[Although he is particularly interested in the spread of desserts he will try the actual food first.]

Did you make anything special that you think I should try first?

[ He nods and starts to fill up Wei Ying's plate with what looks like meat, spicy meat, and more spicy meat. He knows exactly what he likes and he thought he'd indulge him a little for his wedding day.

Likewise, there's plenty of vegetarian fare, and lighter things, but also much that Wei Ying typically prefers. ]

I have not been able to cook in a long time, so I hope it is to your liking.

[ He can be humble when he wants. ]

[Wei Wuxian's mouth is watering as Lan Wangji fills his plate. Hopefully his stomach is going to be big enough to handle everything because he doesn't want to leave any of it.]

I was supposed to help you and I never got a chance.

[He had promised to help with something in related to the cooking but never managed to make it to the kitchen when Lan Wangji was there. Probably for the best since it wasn't likely going to turn out right if he laid his hands on it.]

I'm sure everything is going to be amazing. Even better then when we were camping!

[Although he really enjoyed being able to help with the food preparation then. Mostly because he got to spend time with Lan Wangji, more so then the actual cooking. But at least he can say that he assisted a little.]

[ He had enjoyed cooking in the woods, more than he'd enjoyed cooking in these kitchens which he found stifling and honestly quite difficult and inorganic to cook in.

But it was all worth it, to make this spread, to see Wei Ying happily making those eyes he makes to eat with them before he eats with his mouth.

He could pile on some more, but he sits Wei Ying down somewhere so he can stuff his face with all the foods he loves best. ]

[Settling into his seat, he starts to bring the first bite of food up to his mouth then pauses and looks up at Lan Wangji.]

Are you going to sit and eat with me, Lan Zhan?

[He doesn't know how much time they will actually get to have together since he knows the other man will want to spend most of the evening with his soul twin. Just as he has been spending it with the other Lan Wangji. But he wants to be able to enjoy some time with this one.]

[ He will grab a piece of moon cake and sit down with this Wei Ying in order to keep him company as he eats.

However, he is still under obligation not to talk as he does so, but they can be in companionable silence. ]

[wei Wuxian is content with that even if he is very unlikely to stay quiet for very long. Particularly because he has started to eat and everything tastes so good and he wants to rejoice over having such a tasty wedding banquet.]

It's all really good, Lan zhan! I don't think I can pick a favorite!

[ Lan Wangji is finished eating as he'd had more sustenance earlier. ]

There is plenty. Have as much as you want.

[ No rules about three bowls today. ]

[Wei Wuxian definitely will eat his fill, but still save room for trying some of the desserts. He stands up and walks over to the table to stare at the spread of goodies.]

Would you like to share a dessert, Lan Zhan?

Mn. If it pleases Wei Ying.

[ He will always say things like this, and it will never be a lie or exaggeration. ]

Of course it does!

[ He selects a piece of wedding cake and some ice cream and brings the plate of it back over to the table. Scooting his chair closer so they can enjoy it easier.]

We haven't gotten to eat together since camping.
