A Happy MidAutumn Wedding Mingle Log

Pre-Wedding

Invitations have gone out to all the rooms and all the Oysters within the hotel. Whether you have met all four of the people involved in the wedding or not, it makes no difference. They all want you to join them in the celebration of their union! It's a wedding of two couples but also a celebration of the Mid-Autumn festival since it all will be happening on October 1.

For days leading up to October 1st, the kitchens have been busy with preparing a feast for the wedding. The staff is all aware of the upcoming event and the kitchen was opened up so the parties involved could help prepare a wide variety of foods for the guests. Included in that is the making of many mooncakes. A tasty treat that is customary for the Mid-Autumn Festival that also occurs on that date. Enough had to be made since each of the guests will be give a lovely wedding favor of a pair of mooncakes wrapped in paper bags painted with pretty lotus flowers or perhaps you will be given one with rabbits on the moon instead painted on them. If anyone happens upon the kitchen they might encounter one or both of the Lan Wangji's as they make sure all the food is correct and preparations for carting it all outside is made. Everything must be perfect for the evening.

As the sun rises in the sky, the friends and families of the wedding parties are welcome to gather outside the rooms of the two Wei Wuxian's. Inside their respective spaces they are taking great care in preparing for the evening, getting dressed in the wedding robes and placing their veils over their heads. They are sitting and waiting for their soulmates to arrive so they can be escorted to the ceremony. But outside the room, there are those that wish to challenge each of the Lan Wangji's before they can collect their soon to be husbands. Feel free to force Lan Wangji to prove his love for the one inside the room before he will be allowed to collect his beloved. Force him to eat a spicy pepper, or ask him questions to prove his love for the one inside the room. It's a game that Lan Wangji must pass in order to be ready to finally be with the one he loves. Once he has been allowed to enter the room, the guests will proceed downstairs to prepare for the ceremony.

Wedding

As guests enter the gardens they notice the red lanterns and decorations everywhere. The hedge maze surrounds them and acts as a lovely backdrop that beautiful silk streamers and paper lotus flower decorations are hung on to give a warm feeling to the area. Longer streamers cross above their heads strung from trees to create a lovely red canopy for a little protection from the autumn sun in the sky. Soft music plays around them to welcome them to their seats. In the front of the room is a lovely alter of gold and a place where the official will be standing. There is space big enough for the two sets of grooms to be able to perform their bows simultaneously.

A donkey wearing a red halter with golden tassels and a matching blanket is wandering around the gardens. Munching on apples off the trees, he can easily be distracted by anyone that might offer him another as a snack. He'll eventually be lead closer to the ceremony to stand watch, clearly also a member of the family and as he gets led down the aisle to stand near the alter. Hopefully he will be well behaved during the process. Someone close to him might be sneaking him apples during it to keep him quiet.

When the time arrives, the two couples appear. The Wei Wuxians with red veils covering their faces, equally as bright and elegant robes upon their bodies. Golden embroidery and accents across many layers of long and flowing silks and sheers. Golden head pieces are currently obscured by the veils. They are being lead by the two Lan Wangjis, dressed in equally as striking men's robes with matching golden accents. Each of the four outfits is unique to the person who wears them but they are all equally as extravagant and lovely.

They walk down the aisle as one and stand before Lan Xichen who begins the ceremony. Three sets of bows take place as the two couples kneel before him. The first kowtow to Heaven and Earth. The second to show respect to their family. The third kowtow to each other. Vows will be done in private later but for now the couples stand. Veils are lifted so that the pairs can finally look into the eyes of their soulmates and can finish their ceremony with a kiss.

As the ceremony ends, the couples are now free to acknowledge their guests and begin the festivities.

Banquet

All the food that had been prepared for days leading up to this moment was now placed on long tables with red tablecloths. There are smaller tables for the guests to sit at while they enjoy their meal. The spread is buffet style so that everyone can help themselves and included are more of the mooncakes like the ones within the gifts for the guests. There is also chicken cooked in various ways so that people have their choice of how they like it prepared. Also fruit and garden salads for those that don't eat meat. Including very festive looking watermelons that have been cut to resemble lotus flowers. Basically if the hotel is able to serve it, it has been represented in some way. The grooms didn't want any of the guests to feel left out and wanted to make sure that everyone left the party full and happy.

Don't forget the drinks! Since Wei Wuxian loves his alcohol, there is also plenty of that to go around. It will be flowing all night and you may even spot a couple jars of his favorite drink, Emperor's Smile, hanging out on the table as well. Better get those before they disappear! And for those that don't drink, don't worry. The tea provided is safe of all the hotels tricks. And water or other nonalcoholic beverages are available.

But most important is perhaps the table of desserts that has been laid out for everyone. Ice cream that is somehow being kept cold while outside is available to be placed on top of cakes and pies of every type that anyone can imagine. But standing above it all is a large several tiered wedding cake that will eventually be cut by the four grooms for you all to enjoy. But please don't touch until it has been divided! Cute little rabbits of white and grey decorate each layer of the cake and at the very top a decorative moon topper with a two sets of rabbits within it and lotus flowers along the edge of the moon. Each tier of the cake is a different flavor so make sure you try each one.

The grooms and their family will be seated in a long table by the hedge maze so feel free to come up and congratulate them or offer a toast. When the cake is cut they will be mingling along with everyone.

Dancing

It wouldn't be a wedding without dancing. And as night falls and the food tables are cleared away, a wide open area is set aside for those that want to enjoy customary wedding activities. The hotel was kind enough to offer those dancing lessons a few months before so everyone should be well practiced on the moves. Various styles of music from all over the various worlds plays continuously through the evening. Where the DJ is..no one really knows but the music is coming from somewhere. Shout out a request and maybe it will be able to be played as well.

Lantern Ceremony

As the evening wears on, the Wei Wuxians start to pass out lanterns to each of the guests. They have spent weeks preparing them, painting them with various designs so that each one would be unique. Not only is the lantern ceremony an important part of the Mid-Autumn festival, but it holds a very special meaning for the WangXian pairs. One of their first memories together involved promises while sending off a lantern. On this night that is supposed to be the brightest moon of the year, they want to light up the sky with even more things in celebration.

A quick explanation of how to light it is given and when everyone is ready, their wishes are made and the lanterns are released up into the air. The pretty glow of each one fills the night sky as they rise up towards the stars, carrying the hopes and wishes of everyone with them.

That is how the evening will close and everyone is welcome to mingle around and enjoy the rest of the evening. The grooms will likely be heading off soon so say your goodnights and well wishes. They hope that everyone enjoyed the evening and makes sure that each guest leaves with their little lotus bag as a thank you for sharing the special day with them.

Lan Wangji woke up very early in the morning on this joyous day. His heart is light, full of love and joy and peace, a peace he haven't felt in ages. He was in an emotional stupor, but today is the day that he truly felt like himself. The heaviness in his heart lifted, and he is in better spirits, that he is even smiling and laughing. So much work and preparation to be done. He communicated with the staff and for once, perhaps with the Queen's permission, they are helpful and cooperative in helping in getting everything organized and prepared, that for once he is friendly with them.

Later on, amidst the excitement, getting the poor donkey to dressed up in his finest attire, he is just as handsome and well-dressed as everyone, and guiding him to the gardens. By the time everything is prepared and in place, he is ready. Afterward, he gets dressed himself in his red groom attire, and fixes himself to look perfect for the wedding. With the promise of the banquet and dancing, there are several tasks to do to make sure everything else fall into place first. That being the ceremony and the bowing before the altar to pay respects to the ancestors and to each other to seal their love.

He lifted the veil to look into the eyes of his beloved soulmate, the man he has been in love with as his soulmate and always will. Looking into his eyes, full of tears, he realized he is the one he truly wanted to spend the rest of his life with, now and forever. Wordlessly, as Wei Ying cries, he kisses his tears away, realizing they are tears of joy and not of sadness, and wipes them away with a sleeve to dry his eyes. He made a vow to make him happy and protect him for the rest of his days.

"We're married and I'm your husband now." He kisses him again and again. He would have kiss him several times more, but there's the rest of the wedding and party to enjoy. Now the ceremony is finished, it's time for the real fun. "Let's join the others for the banquet. I bet you're hungry. I am too."

Wei Wuxian looks up at the man he loves, smiling into those kisses. He forgets that they are surrounded by family and friends as he stares up at him. He could enjoy this moment for the whole day. "I love you, Lan Zhan. I'm so happy to be your husband."

He wants to be completely enveloped in all the love he feels and wrap himself up in Lan Wangji's arms for all time. But he knows that there is more to enjoy on the day.

"I can't wait to try all the food..and all the desserts!" Especially that wedding cake that looks so amazing on the dessert table.

A part of Lan Wangji is sad, that he doesn't get to see his brother and son here, but he has his beloved, and this will do for now. With them being husband, their souls are bonded together in this ceremony that not even heaven can tear them apart. It will do for their long-term stay.

"I love you too, Wei Ying. You're my husband now~." He is so happy, that he couldn't contain the love he has for him.

"Let's go check out the banquet. The staff helped prepared all morning, so I'm ready to eat. There's enough food to keep us all stuffed." He laughs, and then holding his hands, never wanting to let go, he follows him to the dining room where it looks completely transformed for their special day. There are many seats and tables arranged with plates and silverware ready for all guests to come and dine in.

"Wow, Wei Ying. Would you look at that and everything looks delicious too."

He looks around at all the tables and the food and is simply in awe of everything. He feels like he did so little to prepare any of this but the staff that helped out seemed to be happy to help. They get directed to the head table and told that the staff would be bringing them the food so that they don't have to deal with having to do so in their wedding clothes.

Wei Wuxian is thankful since the long sleeves are a bit of a hassle when it comes to doing things and he doesn't want to get them in the food. Instead he leads Lan Wangji over to the table and settles into a seat, watchin as the staff brings them plates full of all the types of food.

"Everything looks good, Lan Zhan."

The wedding and the garden is beautiful like a dream come true. For him, it would do for now with their family and friends to come to celebrate it together. Many of their family members may not be here, but it would do. What makes his heart happy and light is to see Wei Ying despite everything.

Following Wei Ying's lead, he took a seat, bringing a chair out for him to sit. Then takes his seat next to him.

"Let's eat and drink away. Then after this, let's have a dance."

As they wait for the food, Wei Wuxian ducks under the table. It takes him a minutes since the box he hid there earlier is quite a bit heavier then it looks. But when he emerges from beneath the table, he has a happy smile on his face and a box wrapped in red and gold paper. He places it down on the table in front of Lan Wangji before settling back into his seat. He had made sure to hide it in a place that only he would be able to find it.

"This is your wedding present, Lan Zhan. I thought just before we ate might be a good time to give it to you."

Just when Lan Wangji is going to start picking up food from the plates assembled across the table.

"Wei Ying? What's this?" Softly, "Oh, Wei Ying. You don't have to..." Still, he is curious. Lan Wangji loves gifts and presents, especially one given in surprise.

"May I open it now?"

"Of course, Lan Zhan!"

He waits until the other has opened the box, revealing a calligraphy set. Inside is a jar of ink, a couple brushes, a carved rabbit inkstone, as well as paper and book binding supplies.

"I've been working on this for awhile. I was able to get all the supplies when we were camping. The brushes are made out of bamboo and deer fur. We even made glue so that everything would be strong. I carved the rabbit myself out a river stone."

He describes each piece that he made and told the story of how much the glue smelled bad as it was being cooked and how he had to chisel the rabbit really carefully.

"At first I thought it would just be nice so you could enjoy calligraphy but..then I figured if I was able to include book making supplies with it then you could start your own library out of books you wrote yourself."

He looks up at the other, hopeful for how he might react to the gift.

He is surprised and so much in awe at the gifts. "Wei Ying, how did you know? It's beautiful." He took the time to admire each piece. It's a wonderful stationery set which he will intend to write in his journals and books. "You made this? You are really skilled." He said, admiring him all the more. He listened to his description and the effort he puts into the pieces to assemble his gift.

"I think that's a good idea. To make a library. I don't know if anyone will read it, but...thank you. I'll treasure it as much as I treasure you." He assembles the pieces neatly back into place, making a note that the presents and gifts everyone gives, he will have to carry them back to his room for safe-keeping.

He cups his face with his hands and Wei Ying is only going to get kisses, lots of appreciative kisses on his lips and cheeks. "I love you, Wei Ying."

He smiles as he gets assaulted by kisses, happy that Lan Wangji appears to like his gift. He waited a long time to be able to give it to him so he is glad that he could finally put it into his hands. He wraps his arms around Lan Wangji's midsection and hugs him close.

"I love you too, Lan Zhan. I wanted to make sure the gift was something you could use and think of me every day when you do. Because I'm greedy and want to always be in Lan Zhan's thoughts."

He teases as he continues to be inundated with kisses. He knows that their food as arrived but he can handle this kind of distraction from food all day.

"There's not a day I never think of you. I think of you every single day. I'm greedy for Wei Ying more than you can imagine." Lan Wangji gives him a brief hug, and then delicately with care, puts his gift away to be taken to his room to examine and figure out how to use properly later as he wants to really honor and cherished the gift. With a smile, "I'll show you how you're always in my thoughts tonight." He gives him a last kiss and then turns his attention to the food.

"I appreciate how much thought you put into it. Now let's enjoy the food and the rest of the banquet." Since he's very hungry from all the preparation earlier that morning, from getting dressed, and doing his own hair. "I'm very hungry."

There is a flip of his heart at the thought of what their wedding night might be like. He tries not to dwell on it too much though since he doesn't want to get distracted from the rest of the evening.

"Then let's eat as much as we can because I'm really hungry too!" He didn't eat earlier in the day because he wanted to make sure he was hungry enough to try all the food that Lan Wangji helped to prepare. Plus all the desserts he wanted to have at the wedding have also been brought out and he can't wait to enjoy those throughout the rest of the night.

He leans over and places one more kiss on Lan Wangji's cheek before pushing his long sleeves up to try and keep them out of the food. He doesn't know how Lan Wangji always manages with such big sleeves. He then starts to try a little of everything that is on the plate in front of him.

Lan Wangji seems distracted by the idea of wedding night. He doesn't want to seem too excited. He appears calm, when he isn't. For now, he wants to take the time and simple joy to enjoy evening, having a hearty dinner with family and friends. He smiles and accept kind warm words of congratulations, and as the groom representing them two, he shares his thanks and gratitude.

After dinner comes and gone, and Lan Wangji is too full to continue, there's plenty of food on the table for guest to eat the rest. He waited for Wei Ying to enjoy his meal, the room darkens with colored lights to match the mood, and there's dancing on the floor as night falls darker, and the food is being cleared away. The DJ is playing a slow, romantic music from various worlds.

He turns to his husband with a smile, "I waited for a long time for this." He offers an hand. "May I have this dance with you, Wei Ying?"

As the dishes are cleared away, he watches as people start to migrate to different areas. Some enjoying the dancing, others going to strolls through the gardens, and some simply enjoying conversation. It's nice that they could all enjoy this in their own ways.

He looks over at Lan Wangji as he offers up his hand and smiles as he takes it in his own.

"Of course, Lan Zhan."

He stands up and moves closer as they head towards the dance floor.

It was a happy day, full of warmth, laughter, and love. There is only pure love in his eyes as he takes Wei Ying's hands and guides him to the floor as the music plays.

Everyone can see the groom and the bride dancing on the dance floor. They both wear flowing elegant robes of red. He holds his hand and one hand wrapped around his waist as he slowly dances him in a slow circle.

"Wei Ying, can you see with the veil on? I'll go slow with step." By tradition, he can't lift the veil until they retire to their bedroom chamber later tonight.

He places his free hand on Lan Wangji's shoulder and smiles up at him. "I'm getting used to it. It's hard to see through it but I can see enough." And he lifts it out of his way if he is desperate to see what he is doing. Wei Wuxian only has so much patience with these kinds of things but he is managing.

Luckily he has gotten pretty good about not stepping on the long robes as well so he is able to dance smoothly. Finally putting all that practicing to good use.

Through the night, he dances with him, loosing track of time. Soft, sweet romantic music is being played in the background. His eyes never left him, knowing this is the man he's in love with and always been, and swear his life to protect for the rest of his time.

When the dance is over and it's getting late, the music kept playing. "You dance well, my love. Are you tired yet and wish to say good-night to everyone and then retire to our room?"

He wants to retire to the room more then anything. He wants to be able to envelope himself in Lan Wangji's love in the privacy of their home in the hotel. But there are still things they need to do and so he has to stay focused.

"First we need to release a lantern and make our vows." A wish and a promise to the heavens. He takes his hand and leads him over to where the lanterns are sitting in wait.

"Let's take it to a quiet part of the garden." That way they can make their promises in private.

In agreement, "Mn, that's right. We have to light up the lanterns and make our wishes. Shall we head to the garden?"

Taking his hand, he follows him to the garden and all the painted lanterns are simply waiting.

"Mn." He takes his lantern, the special one he painted with his rabbit, so he knows it was his, and he thinks of his promises and wishes he wanted to make to the heavens.

Wei Wuxian leads him towards a secluded area that is surrounded by trees so that it is quiet and they can be alone. He wants to be able to have just them for this final moment of the wedding day. He tilts his head up to smile at Lan Wangji.

"Are you ready to release it? You have your wishes and vows ready?"

He had promised to not only share his wish with Lan Wangji but to also write vows that they would have as promises to each other. A promise is something they will actually uphold whereas a wish is something they hope for. Both are important.

In this spot, it's serene and secluded. There is so much happiness and peace, and with nature surrounding them, he is looking forward to spend time with his husband for tonight and the rest of the night.

He smiles softly back, "I'm ready. Do you wish for me to read it out loud to you before we send our lanterns off? I have it written on paper with me. I wanted to share."

He nods. He definitely didn't write his down since his handwriting is..less than wonderful and he didn't want to lose the little piece of paper through the course of the ceremony. But he knows that as soon as he starts talking, everything he can possibly want to say will come pouring out.

"Go ahead, Lan Zhan."

Lan Wangji doesn't mind. Everything Wei Wuxian is to him, he is perfect, so no words required at all. It's what on his mind that matters. He searched his pocket and unraveled the folded parchment of paper where he has written his promises and vows only for Wei Wuxian to hear.

"Wei Ying, I love you and adore you. I really cherished you. I am madly in love with you. I spent a lifetime wanting nothing more than a glance from you and your heart. I'll happily give my life to you, but more than that. I love you with all of my heart. You are my love and my everything, my soulmate. So, through all life's adventures and everything, wherever we go, we'll go together, side by side. I want to stay by your side forever for good times and bad."

He's all smiles. "I can write so much for you to read, but that's my vow and my promise." He folds it up and puts in his pocket to keep for his records whenever Wei Wuxian wanted to read it, and waits for his turn.

He listens intently, feeling his heart swell from the emotions that Lan Wangji's vows give him. He doesn't know if his are even going to come close to comparing but they are from his heart and that is what matters.

"I love you so much, Lan Zhan. I don't know how I ever got so lucky as to have you love me, despite everything we have gone through in our lives. No matter how terrible I have been, or how much trouble I have gotten into, you have always been by my side. Even when I didn't see that myself at first. I want nothing more then to be the one that is always by your side from now on, for this lifetime and the next. For the good and the bad, I will never leave you and I will do everything I can to protect you, love you, cherish you, and make every day more memorable then the previous one. There is no one that makes my heart feel more full and content, that makes me feel more alive and more loved, and I won't let anyone try to take you away from me. You are my everything."

Wei Wuxian finally closes his mouth then opens it again as he laughs softly, "And I'm going to stop before I can't stop and we never make it out of here. Because I could scream my love for you for hours."

Smiles are rare, but when they do occur, Lan Wangji smiles wide, beautiful, and radiant when he hears those words from Wei Ying. How he longs to hear such words for loving for so long after all of those years. Everything he said connects to who he is and felt complete.

"I love you too, Wei Ying. May the Heavens hear us and ties our souls together in this lifetime and the next. Now and forever."

With a nod of approval, he lights up the light. It glows with a bright light and whispers a prayer. "My lantern is ready. Is yours as well?"
