NOTES: Warnings in threads. Just an open post to give us a little something to do i January

The New Year arrives and even if there is no way for them to really tell time, just keeping track of days and a few conversations with staff helps them pinpoint when it happens. Not that anyone can tell what the year is, but at least people can welcome the start of a new year in this place.

Care to celebrate the new year? Find a supply of noisemakers or hats in one of the shops and create your own new year traditions. Might as well celebrate the fact that the hotel hasn't tried to mess with anyone lately!

And with the new year also brings January birthdays! Lan Wangji (both of them) are born during this month and so a dining hall has been set up with streamers and decorations. As well as cakes and desserts for everyone to enjoy. A special (slightly boring) meal of fruits and vegetables has been laid out as the day's specialty.

He smiles softly. "I always work on perfecting the recipe." Knowing his sister was here previously and long gone, he always tries what is best for his husband. He sits at the table, take a few moments to whisper a prayer of thanks and gratitude, "Wei Ying, let's eat."

Dinner is quiet as he doesn't usually speak during eating, but he always listens if Wei Ying felt like talking during meals.

He stays fairly quiet during dinner but he can't help himself. He still finds things to talk about even if he doesn't expect Lan Wangji to respond to him. He is just too used to talking during meals to just be able to stop. So one sided conversations have become fairly normal. He knows that the other man listens though even if he doesn't always contribute and that is all he cares about.

When he finishes he sets the utensils down and sighs contently. "It tasted good too, Lan Zhan."

He happily listens to whatever is on Wei Ying's mind, whether it's big or small. He does respond, with a nodding of his head or giving counsel, so the conversation isn't quite one-sided.

"Do you enjoy it? I make sure it's quite meaty and hearty and full of flavor." He picks up the plates, bowls, and utensils to wash by the sink.

"Get undressed, it's time for your shower."

"Mm...I enjoyed it a lot."

He pushes himself up and starts to undo his robes, leaving a rail behind him as he goes into the bathroom. But then he remembers that he shouldn't make such a mess since this is Lan Wangji's birthday and he should try to keep things organized. So he comes back out, collecting those pieces and carries them all into the bathroom. Then they become a pile in there as he finishes getting undressed.

He's happy to hear that, that his belly is full. Once he finished his errand, he undresses and puts his robes in the same pile. The man is always neat and tidy, but he never scolds Wei Ying if he forgets.

He comes in with the towels hang on the rack, with his long hair tied up with a shower cap, and joins him in the shower stall.

"Wei Ying, here." He helps him tying up his long hair as well, putting a shower cap over and turns on the hot water to get started.

There isn't much entertainment on the hotel other than reading a lot of books and the door to the garden remains closed, so it's not like they could see what the outside world looks like.

"I...honestly don't know gege. I'll happily keep you company if it's your wish." He doesn't care much if he leaves his paintings behind for the others to gaze and ponder. He offers the following suggestions, "I can read you a poem, a story from the other worlds, cook for you until you wish to retire and sleep." Everyday seems monotonous like the last and falls in that routine as he tries to think of anything to keep his gege less bored.

"I wish I can take you to ghost city. I promise you, you'll never feel bored and I'll give you my everything. My subjects can be scary, but you are my most honored guest if you ever wanted to visit my kingdom again."

He wrinkles his nose as he places the shower cap on his head. He has so much hair that it always feels strange when he wears this thing. But at least he won't have to spend all night with wet hair.

He waits for the water to heat up a little before climbing in and under it, leaving room for Lan Wangji to join him.

"You could just tell me about Ghost City instead. Tell me stories of that place and then I can experience it again once we return home. It is such an exciting place that i'm sure you have lots of stories."

He would like to learn all about what Hua Cheng did during those years we were apart and what kind of place Ghost City is all the time.

He laughs softly, knowing he's resisting and fussing. His hair has grown long and becomes difficult to care for it, but he enjoys helping him. The water faucet was turned and the hot water begins to pour.

He joins him and helps him relax by helping wash his body, making a lather, taking pleasure in caring for him. Long ago, he didn't like Wei Ying sharing a spring in the same space as him.

Showering and bathing together has become a pleasant and common occurrence for them. The times when Lan Wangji wouldn't let him be anywhere close to him is a distant memory. He will help to wash the other man, taking turns for them to wash each other.

Once he finishes he leans up and places a kiss on Lan Wangj's cheek. He smiles at him, "You taste clean, Lan Zhan."

When it's his turn, Lan Wangji stood still, allowing him to wash him, and he felt an appreciative pleasure from having his turn. The man loves being clean and tidy, coming from a sect that places utmost importance on cleanliness.

Lan Wangji kisses him back on the cheek. "You too." When the shower is done, he helps dry him up with a towel and helps him puts on his night-robe. "Help you get dressed for bedtime. Put it on."

As soon as the water is off, that wretched hair cover gets yanked off his head and tossed aside. No longer the heavy weight of hair is on his head as it gets to fall down his back again. He pulls on the night robe and feels all wrapped up and cozy in it.

Making sure he isn't going to track any water into the bedroom, he finishes drying off and then also tosses the towel aside before taking Lan Wangji's hand to pull him into the bedroom when he is ready as well.

Lan Wangji dries himself off with a towel, then removes the shower cap to let his long black hair cascading down his shoulders and back. He then puts his nightrobes on and taking his hand, he follows after him.

"Wei Ying? If you're not sleepy, I can tell you more stories or sing to you." To help him to go to sleep.

He's pleased to hear that hearing a story excites him. "All right, I'll tell you." In the meanwhile, he lets his prince relax on his lap using him as a pillow. "Someday, I'll take gege to my kingdom where he can live with me forever."

So he told him the story. "Centuries ago, I dreamed of a place for lost souls like myself to live. It takes a lot of cultivation and spiritual energy, but it can be done. It happened after I turned into a supreme."

"Is that all you want to do to me, Lan Zhan?" He looks at him amused. Is the man really going to break his 'everyday is everyday' promise on his birthday? Seems a little hard to believe. But this is Lan Wangji's day and he'll certainly do whatever the man wants on it.

"I don't need to be sleepy. I can fall asleep pretty easily." It's staying asleep that isn't always the easiest. Nightmares are bad but they at least have tempered recently.

"They all seem to really like it there. You did well, San Lang." All the other ghosts really seem to respect him and that can be hard to achieve with such a rough bunch. Xie Lian was always very impressed by Ghost City the times he has gotten to visit it.

"Mm, it's a large city and kingdom, but it's full of lights and color. It can be dark and heavy sometimes, as it can be sad and happy too. The spirits there are held by memories and emotions as their anchor to exist. It's a place for the dead. It can be dreary for you to live there dianxia."

There's a sigh as he nuzzles on his hair as he rests his head on his lap. "I wouldn't mind living in gege's temple also."

"I don't mind where we go, San Lang. As long as we are together. I do like the simplicity of the temple but I couldn't ask you to never go back home."

San Lang is that place's ruler. Without him there occasionally there is no telling how things could be. So he knows that they would have to go back once in awhile. And it would be a shame not to visit that lovely temple that the man built for him.

Just as amused, Lan Wangji speaks from his heart. "I want everything, Wei Ying. Everything with you."

He'll do everything to make sure he chases away his nightmares with everything he has. But nightmares are like scars, they don't heal or go away easily. Only with time.

"If Wei Ying wants to make love, we can do that."

"I always want that, Lan Zhan. I can never get enough of you." There is no such thing as too much Lan Wangji in his life. Everyday might have been Lan Wangji's rule but it is something Wei Wuxian is happy to embrace. And this is the man's birthday so of course he is going to want to please him in any way that he can.

Everyday is a routine, but Wangji is patient and does think of Wei Ying's needs when he begs three or twice a week for rest. What's important is they have each other and they are together. He smiles softly. He's going to start by undressing his robes and putting them side, and kissing him sweetly on the lips and over his throat, going soft and slow.

"How about gentle and slow, is that all right?"

"Mm...sounds good." He lets that robe fall away and helps Lan Wangji push his own to the floor as well so that he can wrap his arms around him and draw their bodies close.

He always enjoys the feeling of their bodies against each other as Lan Wangji's mouth kisses over his neck. It's easy for his mind to go completely blank when the other man starts doing this.

Seeing Wei Ying naked always gets him excited all the time, but there's a sweet comfort too when he wraps his arms around him for a hug and holds him close. Holding him close, his heart his steady, his mind his clear, and he knows his path. With bodies close, hearts open, and thoughts open.

"Wei Ying, when we married and after that. I think my sole purpose is to live for you and only for you. There can be no other but you." He kisses him. "I love only you."

"I love you, Lan Zhan. There is no one else I'd want to walk side by side with forever."

He can't see a life with anyone else and he doesn't want to ever have to imagine it. He kisses him back and then steps back towards the bed. When it hits the back of his legs he sits down, never letting go of the other man as he draws him down with him.

"Forever then. By your side." He kisses him with a quiet surrender and passion. Only his Wei Ying is in his heart and his mind. He climbs on the bed to curl up with him, keeping him warm and safe.

"Wei Ying, my love, my treasure. Wo ai ni..." He whispered as he kisses him passionately with more longing.
