A Family Dinner

It has been quiet around the hotel other then the fact that there is snow everywhere and the staff seems to be in a festive mood. After some discussions about holidays they discover that this is a time of the year when people gather with families and celebrate. So it was only natural that this large, unique, extended family should all come together and enjoy a meal together and reflect over their time in the hotel.

So the dining area has been decorated with red and gold and green, christmas trees are brightly lit around the room. Music plays softly over the speakers and a large buffet of food is out for all to enjoy. A fire crackles in the fireplace warming the room so that they snow has been melted away and won't make people want to rush back to the warmth of their rooms.mo

Come and enjoy the festivities, share gifts with one another, tell stories and simply enjoy the company and expectations for the coming year.

"I will follow you," he responds. "And wonder where we are walking."

"We would walk everywhere. All over the hotel like we used to when we were exploring it and drawing the maps."

The hotel has changed a few things around so he hasn't updated the map. Of course they had gotten a little distracted with a lot of other things since then.

"I have to keep adding to our new book so we need new adventures."

"Alright. We can make updates to the map." He is up for a little adventure; no one would miss them for a little bit, anyway.

"Right now? Really?" He grins and pulls Lan Wangji to his feet.

"I should draw one of the gardens too at some point. Even if we can't access it now, we might be able to some day again so it would be good to have one."

Plus it is good to have a a working diagram of the hole hotel in case they need to make plans for escape or battle or..anything that might come up.

He smiles back, gently, and walks with him. Wei Wuxian is just so excited, that it's hard to deny him his happiness.

Lan Wangji tries to quell his heart, but he's having a time of it.

"I still remember the garden. I can draw a map."

He is definitely excited because having a purpose, even just a small one, is at least something more then simply sitting around. And being able to do it with Lan Wangji always lifts his mood.

"We need to find some paper and things to draw it with. We probably will have to go to the front desk. If you want to do the gardens, then I will do the inside."

He remembers most of the changes at least. Others he can figure out with a little bit of exploring.

"Mn," he answers. "There's some in my rooms." He offers to take Wei Ying up there, so they can get some, and perhaps do some drawing up there. He'll be able to think better there.

He nods and leads the man towards the elevators. He hasn't really been in this Lan Wangji's room in a long time. "That will be a good place to do it."

He could take him to Lotus pier but it isn't particularly peaceful in there with the animals.

No, it's much more peaceful at Cloud Recesses. And if Wei Ying should happen upon the both of them, they'll just be doing some drawings, and maybe he could help.

It's not a long walk up, but the whole time, he doesn't let go.

He chatters randomly into the elevator and on the way up to the room and even off the elevator. Since they don't see each other every day he feels inclined to fill him in on the adventures of the animals and random things he encounters. But then he finally lets himself go quiet as they reach Cloud Recesses and waits for the man to unlock and open the door.

They get into the Cloud Recesses, and he goes to fetch the tools that they need for their current mapping adventure.

"Ready?" he asks, items in his arms.

He looks around the room, still finding it interesting how the two Cloud Recesses are so similar and different at the same time. Now each room having more personalized items from the hotel.

He turns and comes back over, "I'm ready." He probably should have grabbed the old map but he can always simply replace it later.

They can draw a little bit more than they need.

Lan Wangji hands him a brush and some paper, but he'll be holding the rest.

He takes the supplies, "Should we do what we can remember at the table in here first, or should we draw it as we walk around like we did before?"

"What we did before worked well," he answers, as he starts to walk around. "And the hotel changes often." Which means that they'd likely need multiple maps, anyway.

Wei Wuxian agrees. It lets him draw it more accurately and he can map out how large each space actually is. "I often wonder how it does that. I know there is some sort of power involved and maybe it is kind of like my shapeshifting ability in a way."

"Maybe the building has our powers," he answers. He doesn't know how that could happen - but it could be that the queen has imbued the building with them.

"I suppose it is possible. I wonder if we will ever find the truth." Perhaps on one of their map making endeavors they will someday encounter something that will unleash some answers.

He wants to know the truth - of course he does, he's always seeking it. But at a time like this, now, he really just wants for them to be able to move forward.

"It will come out," he says, because it will if they have any hopes of leaving.

He has already started sketching out the map, having gotten pretty good at making these rough first drafts while walking. He takes the time to make it presentable after he has all the information jotted down.

"For now, we do what we can, right? Making note of changes and see if anything seems to reveal a pattern of some sort." Because Wei Wuxian is always seeking answers. He has created some of the greatest cultivation tools in his history, he feels sure that some day he can figure this place out too.

There's few things that are more satisfying in his life than to work alongside Wei Ying.

He has that look on his face when he concentrates on something, and he doesn't even see Mo Xuanyu's body.

"We can do this every night if needed."

He pauses and looks up at him in surprise, "Really? You'd actually be willing to walk around like this every night with me?" One of these evenings, Wei Wuxian is determined to be walking the hotel so that he can see the rooms change. He figures he can learn a lot if he sees it actually happen.

He did say that they could spend time together every day.

And he likes to spend time with him.

"Why would I not?"

He shrugs and looks down at his map again, letting that be a small distraction.

"You have your own Wei Wuxian to keep busy with. And I'm sure you spend time with your brother every day too. I don't want to distract from any of that."

"There are twenty-four hours in a day," he responds.

"I could spare one or two for this Wei Ying."
